This victory is great news. How else can we take action? After all we, the people have the power to evoke change in the U.S. I am a college student in Ohio and would love to help out more with this effort but don't know how to start. Right now I do my best to buy local and organic products (casting my vote in that way) but would love to know more. If anyone has suggestions on how to do more I would greatly appreciate it.

Anti GMO sugar beets could lead to destruction of rain forest. Having grown up hoeing sugar beets (one day I shared a whopping $3 with a migrant worker), I am not surprized that last year 95% of the sugar beets planted in the USA were "Roundup Ready". The alternative is sugar cane, grown in the tropics.

This needs to be watched carefully to make sure no 'funny' biz is in the midst... meaning, I hope they can't appeal only to have the appeal totally give them more power--I don't know if it is possible, but today, one can never just 'trust' the courts.

If we could trust the courts to do what is right, GMOs (patenting of life) could/would not have happened. When did it and who was involved is the question, because for the longest time it wasn't allowed.

We should all write the judge and thank everyone who argued this position. We are manipulated daily by big biz and it must end.

[...] I think that people have the idea that our government is testing GM foods for safety before they are released to the public, but this is not true. The FDA has no safety testing requirements, and often the reports they do rely on come from biased studies supported by companies like Monsanto. But we are catching on, and it’s clear by the work being done to keep GMOs labeled (“‘Non-GMO’ Seal Identifies Foods Mostly Biotech-Free” NYTimes) and court cases being brought against the approval of GMO crops (“Victory!
One small victory. Now if we could just get ALL GMO crops made illegal, we'd be flying high. There MUST be a way to make our government respond to our needs, and most importantly to the needs of our children. I would love to know the numbers of members of our governments who buy organic products. Products which are now too costly for the most needy members of our society to purchase, which is a crime in and of itself. Especially since we know the dangers of long-term ingestion of these foods. Selling these products to our poorest people helps insure that they will stay that way, because they interfere with the ability to learn, and have caused our obesity crisis almost singlehandedly. Do we have any 'grassroots' organisations protesting this travesty of justice, and if so, where do I sign up?
