CyClone Dairy: Perfect Cows, Perfect Milk

cyclone-dairy-milk-jugs-copyWere you one of the thousands of people appalled at a new dairy company, “CyClone Dairy,” selling milk from cloned cows? April Fools! Ben & Jerry’s launched this fictitious dairy company - selling milk made from 100% cloned cows - in March 2009. CyClone Dairy isn’t real, but it could be! In January 2008, the U.S Food and Drug Administration declared milk and meat from cloned animals safe for human consumption, allowing cloned food products to enter the U.S. food supply.

Dozens of food companies have pledged to avoid cloned animals in their supply chains, and the National Organic Program has determined that cloned animals and their offspring cannot be certified organic. But these efforts may not be successful unless clones and their offspring can be reliably identified through a national tracking system.

We believe you should have the right to choose which foods you eat – and not to eat cloned foods if you don’t want to. And that’s why CFS and companies like Ben & Jerry’s believe we need a national clone tracking system, so people and companies can know where their food is coming from.

Tracking is also necessary for any kind of labeling about cloned foods. The radio frequency tagging system proposed by the cloning companies stops at the slaughterhouse door and only covers clones, not their offspring; that’s not good enough.

Take Action Now! Tell Congress they must allow for real consumer choice by establishing a national DNA-based tracking system for cloned animals and their offspring.

  1. If you are unable find a local seller to suit your needs, shopping online is a convenient method to purchase your requirements. This is due to organic produce having steadily gained in momentum. You will find there is a reasonable choice of organic food available online and it is as simple as carrying out a search on the Internet via a search engine to locate suppliers. You will normally need to pay for your purchases by using a credit card or debit card
